Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways to get involved at Armstrong. Review the list of committees and consider participating in one or more that interest you.

Gardening Volunteers

Volunteer in the fall and/or the spring to help weed, rake, mulch, and plant flowers in the Armstrong gardens. Volunteers are also also welcome year-round. Students, parents, alumni, scout troops, students looking to fulfill service hours, and anyone from the community are welcome to volunteer! Look for sign up information in the PTA Weekly or contact Jenevieve Lenz for more details.

School Library

Flexible hours and dates! Our school library needs volunteers during the school year to help children choose books, check books in and out, shelve books and work on special projects with the Librarian, Mrs. Seidel. Click here to visit the Volunteer Sign Up link.

Interested in enhancing your child’s art experience at AES with no art background needed and no prep time required? Want to get to know the kids in your child's grade or classroom? This quarterly program is just what you need! No problem if you can only lead or assist just one time, we'd love to have you.

GREAT Art (Greater Reston Elementary School ArT) is a PTA-sponsored art enrichment program at Armstrong, exploring various art themes and artists. There is an in-class session which is 45-60 mins long, four times in the school year. After a volunteer goes through the PowerPoint, the students work on an art project inspired by the artist/theme. GREAT Arts provides the PowerPoint, visuals, art supplies, instructions - EVERYTHING. Please email Emma Khan if you have questions or would like to sign up.

Helping Hungry Kids

Did you know that there are children in the Armstrong community that do not have enough food over the weekend? The Helping Hungry Kids (HHK) program collects and distributes food to those in need. This worthy program is in dire need of volunteers to keep this program running. Email Armstrong social worker Nicole Cox for more information.

LINK Food Rescue

Armstrong students support their community by contributing unopened lunch items to the LINK food bank. Volunteers are needed to pick up the food items from Armstrong on Tuesdays & Fridays. Click here to sign up to pick up food at Armstrong and deliver to the Embry Rucker Shelter.
